How Will Laser Face Rejuvenation Improve My Skin?

Treatment in clinic with homecare, 3 laser treatments and 2 peels

The term ‘laser’ sends some clients to panic mode! This is a mistake. Laser machines are like finly tuned orchestras, in the right hands they bring magic. However don’t be fooled into thinking investment in a single treatment is going to be enough or even a few. Like all skincare journeys it takes a range of skincare and some repetition to get the best results and to keep the problem at bay. Think about a trying to lose weight. A few sessions in the gym with a trainier just won’t do the job but wrap your gym sessions with good food at home and a little more excercise and the weight goes and stays off. Its your homecare which will feed your skin and protect your skin after laser treatment and make sure you get the best outcome.

People ask for skin rejuvenation treatments for many different reasons. Perhaps you have some darkened age spots, visible facial veins, you are beginning to see wrinkles, or you just want a more youthful look. If the aforementioned conditions are a concern for you, laser skin treatments can certainly help you achieve the results you’re looking for.  Sometimes to get maximum benefit for your individual needs it may be partnered with other treatments like chemical peels, micro-needling, injectable skin boosters (sometimes known as injectable moisturisers) or Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP).

Laser treatments can sound daunting if you’ve never experienced it before, but it’s a carefully managed process that achieves fantastic results by stimulating your skin cells to produce more collagen, which plumps them up and gives you smoother, softer skin.

Light based treatments are often a mix of technologies and can include both laser and intense pulsed light (IPL).

Treatments for skin pigmentation, facial veins, seborrheic keratosis (age spots) and general collagen boosting are achieved using an intense pulsed light.

Improving skin texture and softening scars resulting from acne, injury or surgical procedures is better administered with a non-ablative fractional laser treatment.  We use the Frax laser which means the laser beam is delivered in a large number of micro beams. Treating the skin in this way ensures that the energy is targeted into the dermal layers of the skin, without causing changes to the surface of the skin.  This means that the visible effects after the treatment are minimal, so the social downtime is less than other laser treatments, it also means that it is more comfortable; it’s really very clever stuff!

Due to the advanced technology the sensation during treatment is kept to a minimum, clients report it feeling like an elastic band being pinged against their skin.

If you are having treatment for facial veins, the results are almost immediate because the veins darken and disappear with the laser treatment, although you may look a little pink immediately after treatment. If you are treating skin pigmentation, the treated area may look initially darker, but this will fall off after a few days leaving the skin with a more even tone. When undertaking treatments for skin rejuvenation visible results will take longer to become evident because we are treating at a dermal level and the natural process of skin renewal will need time to take place. When a general skin rejuvenation effect is desired the results can be enhanced by combining other complementary treatments like chemical peels, a personalised course of action can be determined and decided upon during consultation.

Some cosmetic conditions may be less common,  if you have very specific skin issues such as fungal nail infections, warts, leg veins and other skin blemishes these may be removed using a laser called an NdYAG.

We feel that by offering several types of light therapies, we can personalise your treatments and offer you the best possible technology for all your cosmetic concerns.

With a planned course of treatment that is designed specifically for you and your skin type, you can have a healthier complexion that looks clearer, brighter and younger. Exuding beauty and confidence is as much about how you feel on the inside as what you see on the outside, and in a few short weeks or months of treatments you will be able to see a difference in your skin and your overall mindset.

I say this to every person I work with, but it’s important to remember that you are completely unique, and every person is different. What works for your neighbour or friend may not be the same for you, and it’s vital that we tailor your products and treatments to get the very best results.

It’s also important that you do your homework, because great daily skincare is how you achieve long term results. Personal maintenance is the key to getting the most out of your treatments, and in between visits you must use the right products and ensure you aren’t getting too much sun exposure, which can slow down or hamper your progress. It’s almost like paying for a personal trainer and then going to McDonald’s every day between your sessions – you wouldn’t get very far if you didn’t make the effort!

It’s an exciting time for us at The Secret Garden, because after years of training and experience carrying out skin rejuvenation  treatments we have recently welcomed a brand new laser into our beautiful clinic and can now offer a wider range of treatments to our clients, who come from Winchester, across Hampshire and as far afield as Cornwall and Birmingham, in pursuit of healthy, youthful, glowing skin!!

If you’d like to try laser treatments for yourself or find out more about how we help you to achieve the look you long for, arrange a consultation today. We promise you’ll be glad you did!
